“Don’t you think it is ridiculous that you have to shop for your breast prosthesis? If you need an artificial leg you won’t go shopping but you will be referred to a specialist in the hospital”, and she repeated this complain a couple of times: “It [breast prosthetics] should be taken out of the commercial circuit”.
Simone had a breast amputation and uses an external breast prosthesis to conceal bodily assymetry. She was interviewed for our study on how women respond to breast surgery.
